iPhone Wallpaper

Since the introduction of iPhone software 2.0 it is now a lot easier to download and apply new wallpaper for your iPhone. I think sciphone.net is brillant. They have an iPhone optimised site which you can download wallpaper straight to your iPhone. When you’ve found an image that you think is worthy for your iPhone, click… sorry I mean touch the download button, the image then opens in a new page. Once it’s loaded hold your finger on the image and you’ll get a “Save Image” panel slide up from the bottom. The image is then saved to your camera roll where you can then set it as your wallpaper.
It would be nice to be able to save to a specific folder.
If you know of any useful iPhone related sites let me know.

iPhone 2.0 software update

I’m writing this post from the Wordpress application on my first generation iPhone, which by now you might have guessed that i’ve upgraded to iPhone software 2.0. To start off it didn’t go smoothly. I downloaded the software when it was available through iTunes on Friday, the day iPhone 3G was released. It installed on the device ok but when I needed to activate the phone through iTunes the servers were not responding. This meant that the only thing I could do on the device was to call 999, but because this wasn’t a life or death situation, I felt that wouldn’t have been appropriate. I think that the problems were caused by Apple releasing the 2.0 update, iPhone 3G and Mobile Me all on the same day which resulted in their servers being overwhelmed by traffic.
I tried again on the Saturday and by then there was enough room on the servers for me and was activated in minutes.
The first thing I did was install Twitteriffic, Facebook and of course iPint. Twitteriffic is brilliant it’s just as good as the desktop client. Facebook was terrible the web app version had more features than the native app. Thankfully Facebook have updated the native so that users can now post to walls amoungst other things. iPint is great pointless app, you have to slide a pint of Carling to your mate along the bar by using the sensors built in to the iPhone and if you suceed you get a free virtual pint in your iPhone. Some great applications to note are:
Zenbe - great to do list app
Stanza - ebook reader
Voicenotes - dictaphone app
Phonesaber - light saber in your iPhone
Wordpress - A great way to post to a blog
I will talk more about apps after I’ve had more time with them.
Have a look at my screenshots which you take by pressing the home button and the power button together.
